JIA Future Artists Award
Discovering future talents globally and collecting illustrations from children all over the world.
JIA Future Artists Award, organized by the Japan Illustrators' Association (JIA), collects children's artworks globally. It aims to discover future talents in illustration art, commend outstanding young creators, and build an international cultural and artistic exchange platform using illustration as a medium.
Winning young artists will receive cash prizes, certificates, and free participation in large-scale illustration exhibitions. Their works will be showcased in touring exhibitions in cities such as Beijing and Shanghai.
Japan Illustrators' Association
The Japan Illustrators’ Association (JIA), established in 1999, aims to discover and encourage outstanding illustrators worldwide, promote exchange among illustrators, cultivate young talents, protect the rights of illustrators, and enhance the status of the profession.
The association holds the JIA Illustration Award annually, recognizing recipients with prizes including Grand Prize, Gold Prize, Silver Prize, and Bronze Prize, with over 50 illustrators honored each year. Past awardees come from nearly 30 countries and regions, totaling over a thousand winners. This award has significant global influence, playing a crucial role in advancing and promoting the creativity and foresight of illustration art.

Eligibility
Age: Children and youth aged 6-16 (born between March 1, 2008, and May 31, 2018)
Nationality: No restrictions
Artwork Requirements
Theme, creation time, medium: No restrictions
Single piece: Consists of 1 artwork
Series: Consists of 2-5 artworks
*All types of artwork are accepted, including but not limited to: hand-drawn, CG, printmaking, and three-dimensional works.
*For flat works, the paper size should be between A4 (210×297 mm) and A2 (420×594mm), with a thickness of less than 5mm.
Artwork Categories
No restrictions on theme or medium.
**Note: The following submissions will not pass the preliminary review:

Works not solely created by the participant, such as those drawn collaboratively by multiple people.

Works similar to famous paintings and past entries of the JIA Japanese Illustration Awards. os, product images, etc.).

Works featuring commercial characters and registered trademarks (animation characters, company logos, product images, etc.).

Works partially created using AI.

Works with poor image quality.
Submission Method
Please complete the required information in the registration form and pay the registration fee. Upload your artwork as soon as it's ready, but no later than May 31st.
Images of the artwork can be either photographs or scans of the drawing.

Group submissions (schools, private academies, and other educational institutions, for more than 10 people) can be made. Please contact us for group registration.
Submission Requirements
File format: JPG or PNG
File size: Each artwork is limited to 2MB, with a maximum of 5 artworks in total. (Size within 2,000px on long side)
Number of Submissions: Up to 5 pieces
One file per artwork (please do not include any text).
For three-dimensional works, submit a set of three photos taken from three different angles for each piece. Changing the background or layout is considered a different artwork.
**Please submit the highest quality image possible. Poor image quality may disqualify the submission.
**Please keep your artwork safe in case you decide to mail it in for the exhibition.
File Naming:
The file name should be the artist's name in lowercase alphanumeric characters, formatted as "first_last_number.jpg" (e.g., jobs_ steve_1.jpg).
Evaluation Method
The judging for the JIA Future Artists Award is conducted by a panel consisting of 3 judges and the JIA Japan Illustrators Association.
The JIA Japan Illustrators Association conducts one round of judging, where the 3 judges score the qualifiers from the first round based on the following table:

**The division for applications is determined by the age of the applicant on the date of application.
For Ages 6-8 years:
Gold: 1 winner, prize of 130 USD, Certificate, Exhibition Catalog
Silver: 5 winners, Certificate, Exhibition Catalog
Bronze: 10 winners, Certificate, Exhibition Catalog
Finalist: Digital Certificate
For Ages 9-12 years:
Gold: 1 winner, prize of 130 USD, Certificate, Exhibition Catalog
Silver: 5 winners, Certificate, Exhibition Catalog
Bronze: 10 winners, Certificate, Exhibition Catalog
Finalist: Digital Certificate
For Ages 13-16 years:

Announcement of the winners will be made on our website in early July, and winners will also be notified via email. Please ensure that you have entered your email address correctly.
